Werjayo Berito Kuwaru'wa

Berito Kuwaruʾwa is an Indigenous U’wa leader from Colombia who led a successful campaign to stop oil drilling on sacred U’wa land, framing it as harm to Mother Earth. Awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize in 1998, he continues to defend his people’s rights, land, and traditions.
