Nature Intelligence

The more we remember through the teachings of Indigenous Elders and connection with Nature, the more we are coming to understand that our planet is not inert and composed of mere chemical processes.

Our Earth is alive, conscious, intentional and responsive. Our Earth is intelligent, something the physicist James Lovelock evidenced with his Gaia theory developed in the 1970s. He was the first scientist to consider the Earth’s ecology as a whole and his conclusion was that Earth is a living intelligent superorganism. All human intelligence is derived from Nature intelligence. We need Nature and Nature needs us.

At the root of our planetary crises is that Human intelligence has gotten out of alignment with Nature intelligence. To save ourselves, we must now align with the intelligence of Mother Earth and regenerate the ecological systems that provide us with life. Her ways must become our ways, biomimicry our way of relating to each other and to her. We must blend our intelligence with Gaia rather than use our intelligence to dominate and exploit her. This will require that each of us journey inward to heal ourselves while also healing our external world. We are being challenged to transition from being an apex species acting without restraint, believing we are in a mechanistic world and alone in the universe, into a species that harmonizes with a larger ecology of intelligences, knowing that we are not alone and cannot make it alone.
